Rogue Trader was originally a tabletop skirmish game published by Games Workshop as Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader in 1987. They dropped that part of the tile from later editions of Warhammer 40,000 until 2009, when it an RPG was released by Fantasy Flight Games as a companion game to the Dark Heresy RPG also set in the Warhammer 40,000 setting.
