Meanwhile in an alternative universe

A plan is put in place to hold a ceremony to honour those that died in the invasion near the ruins of Gotham where a great cemetery has been built. During the renovations to allow the ceremony an underground chamber was discovered containing a coffin. When the coffin was breached a huge number of black rings were released. These rings began to animate the dead bodies of those buried near by and these bodies then proceeded to attack those around. A team was dispatched and they temporarily held off the undead. They investigated the tomb and found a figure with a black glove. One of the team look the glove and found that they could control the undead for a time, however, they were soon overcome and joined the ranks of the walking dead. Further investigation revealed a chamber containing a large black lantern. The investigating team were quickly torn apart by the raised body of Superman, however, before being overcome they tricked the undead Superman into crashing into the lantern releasing the black hole within which engulfed and destroyed the whole of the Earth and then the solar system.
