Control runes are found on various artifacts of the Purple Planet. They are usually arranged in a radial pattern, thus:

We number runes 1-8 starting from the NNE (upper of the top right) rune and going clockwise.

Catherine the Cutthroat has guessed that the third rune clockwise represents 'off'.
